Lufthansa business class wine list wine selection

Each year we issue 30-35 invitations to tender. We receive suggestions for the tenders from specialist magazines and online, via trade fairs, wine tastings, talks to specialist groups and recommendations. Our criteria for selecting the wine correspond to our customers’ wishes and market trends. The selection is not made on the basis of the label or the name, but purely on the basis of the quality of the wine: at 10 – 12 meetings a year a committee of external and internal wine experts, together with Markus Del Monego, evaluate the wines in a blind tasting using an international 20-point system. During the wine tastings we make sure that the wines have the right character and that they fulfil the requirements to be served on board our flights:
We give preference to wines with reduced acidity or wines containing less tannin. We use wines with somewhat more residual sugar and/or a higher level of alcohol, as residual sugar and alcohol appear weaker at altitude. Ambassador for Germany’s top winesEvery year on long-haul flights alone, Lufthansa offers around 30 types of wine from more than 25 German vineyards. During 2007 we served almost a million litres of wine from top German estates in all travel classes.

By the way: in order to add a wine to its on-board wine list, Lufthansa requires around 8,000 bottles of a variety every two months for serving in First Class. In Business Class it needs an amount of some 40,000 bottles and in Economy Class at least 200,000 litres of wine per variety is required

lufthansa airbus a340 vs boeing 747 cabin and service

There's not much difference between the two planes except the A340 has 2-4-2 seating and the 747 has 3-4-3 seating in economy class, and the 747 does have an upper deck which the A340 does not, but is not used for economy class on Lufthansa. My most recent flights on Lufthansa were on a 747, very good service and decent food, but Lufthansa needs to update their in flight entertainment with seat back personal tv's, the flights I took had the screens hanging from the ceiling along the aisles, otherwise a very good airline.

Lufthansa Airline passengers online seat selection

Passengers with Lufthansa can now select their seat when checking in online.
Lufthansa passengers have been able to print out online boarding passes at lufthansa.com for a while, but only now can they pre-select their seat at the same time. The online check-in option is available 23 hours prior to departure.
You can request a seat when your booking through a travel agent, or in Lufthansa's web site, and in some other web sites. Although the request is not guaranteed until you check in.
Call the airline 2) Book with your travel agent and 3) Book it yourself online. I believe some European carriers do not give out pre-selection. The only way to find out is to do option number one. Also, check out seatguru.com for specifics about your airline and seat selection to make a better choice.

If you are booking online on http://www.lufthansa.com/ and you are a Miles & More or other associated airline program costumer, and you have a preferable seat on your profile, when you book a Special Service Request will be automaticaly generated on your booking.
If you are not a member of Miles & More or other associated airline program costumer, you can send a Special Services Request to Lufthansa after you book using this link http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/l...

You can always request a seat during check in at the counter, online or by phone

Lufthansa flights from Chennai to San Francisco

Lufthansa and United both fly from Chennai to San Francisco with a stop in Frankfurt. The shortest amount of time the flight will take you is around 24 hours total (although if you choose a longer layover in Frankfurt, the total journey time can
go up to as much as 31 hours.)

I'm afraid there doesn't appear to be a carrier that makes a stop in Amsterdam when flying from Chennai to San Francisco.

Contrary to what the answerer above said, I was unable to find a flight with British Airways that connected in Frankfurt or Amsterdam when flying between the two cities you selected; there are, however, BA flights that go via London Heathrow.

Best option is

Chennai-Amsterdam ( KLM), Amsterdam-San Francisco ( North-West)

Chennai-Frankfurt ( Lufthansa), Frankfurt-SA ( Lufthansa)

Mar. 19, 2009 – Lufthansa today opened the doors to its new Senator and Business lounge at Washington Dulles International Airport. the lounge offers a full set of amenities so that guests can escape from the stress of traveling and relax until their departure. With the opening of this lounge, Lufthansa further expands its lounge network to an impressive total of 66 lounges at 26 worldwide locations, including six U.S. cities. Washington Dulles is Lufthansa’s third U.S. lounge to open during the last several months

Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines Code-share flights routes

From the end of this week, numerous Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines flights will be operated on a code-share basis under the partner airline’s flight number. Reservations for these flights can be made as of today. In future, Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines passengers will have access to both airlines’ route networks. Initially, this service will apply to flights between Brussels and Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Nuremberg and Stuttgart as well as to selected European destinations. At a later date, it will be extended to other flights, particularly to and from Munich. This agreement will benefit customers of both airlines, as it will provide them with greater choice and flexibility. Passengers will, for example, be able to fly from Berlin to Brussels with Lufthansa and return with Brussels Airlines. The two partner carriers will offer nine flights per day on this route.

Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines Reciprocal lounge privileges

Since mid-February 2009 both airlines have granted their premium customers reciprocal use of the partner’s lounges. Members of Brussels Airlines’ frequent flyer program Privilege who have attained Platinum status can thus use all Lufthansa Senator and Business Lounges worldwide. Likewise, since February, Lufthansa HON Circle members, Senators and First Class passengers have enjoyed access to Brussels Airlines lounges. In addition, from March 29th,
when the summer timetable goes into effect, Business Class passengers flying Brussels Airlines will be able to use all Lufthansa’s Business lounges, while Lufthansa customers will have access to Brussels Airlines’ Business Lounge in Brussels. In the initial phase, Lufthansa is planning to take a 45 percent stake in Brussels Airlines. This may be increased to a 100 percent stake at a later date. The transaction is currently undergoing regulatory review by the EU Commission. Meanwhile, Brussels Airlines is making preparations for its entry into the Star Alliance. Many customer benefits have already been realized as a result of the close partnership between Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa.
Full information about the partnership and the initial customer benefits is available on the 2009Internet at www.lufthansa.com and www.brusselsairlines.com.

Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines Frequent flyer program partnership

With the start of the summer timetable, the two carriers are launching a frequent flyer program partnership. Brussels Airlines Privilege members will then be able to earn award and status miles on all flights operated by Lufthansa and also redeem any miles accumulated prior to that date for award tickets on Lufthansa flights. Conversely, Lufthansa Miles & More members will have their account credited with all the premium, status and HON Circle miles earned on flights operated by Brussels Airlines and will also be able to book award flights with Brussels Airlines. In addition, status customers of both carriers will enjoy additional privileges such as more generous free baggage allowances and preferential baggage claim. Lufthansa status customers flying with Brussels Airlines will also be able to use Brussels Airlines’ Business Class check-in counters. Likewise, Brussels Airlines’ Platinum and Gold passengers will have access to Lufthansa’s First or Business Class check-in counters.

Lufthansa direct flight to Munich from SFO US

I've done the non-stop to SFO and Chicago. I love it. If you buy it several months in advance it's usually the same price and sometimes cheaper. you use Munich as an airport to connect through to go to San Francisco (or any other destination in the US for that matter), it works out much cheaper than leaving directly from Munich. For instance, I tried booking a Brussels-Munich-San Francisco flight and it was at least €100 cheaper than MUC-SFO!? Try this and see if you get the same thing. I figure you can get a BRU-MUC-SFO ticket and just show up at the airport in Munich without ever having flown the first leg.

Never change on the East Coast. everytime I've done it I've had problems. I get in late, customs takes so long, and then I miss my next flight.

Changing in Frankfurt isn't bad. I've missed flights a few times but flights to Munich are frequent so it's only delayed me a few hours.

flights to Munich, Germany from the US cities listed next to them:

Philidelphia, Boston, Chicago, Charlotte, Denver, Los Angeles, New York JFk, Newark EWR, San Francisco, Washington. All on Lufthansa, except for Phili which is US airways.DEN, SFO, LAX, ATL, MIA, RSW (Ft. Myers), JFK, EWR, PHL, IAD (Dulles), CLT, ORD (Chicago O'Hare), BOS.

bring dog on Lufthansa airlines without usda stamp

you can call your local german consulate and ask them. it is better to be safe than sorry and jsut get it stamped, i think. i am driving to my nearest state capital for my cat to get it stamepd so it returns back in time for the flight! also w/checking its a hit or miss i heard. ive been reading up on people taking their pets overseas half the time they check the paperwork the other tiem they don't care
I suggest that you get in touch with the German consulate in Chicago, Il and ask them about the USDA stamp. The phone number is 312 - 202 0480.
the dog will not be allowed to be loose in the cabin, but will have to travel in a pet kennel. The pet kennel must be wide enough to allow the animal to turn around
We moved in January from the US and I was so stressed about shipping our pet! We flew on Lufthansa (which I recommend as they were great with her and Frankfurt is know for being a great dog handling facility). We had a contact here in Chennai to arrange for Millie to be brought in, he had obtained a No Objection Certificate which we were told by Lufthansa was required. In fact they almost didn't let us board in Chicago b/c we didn't have the form. We told them it was waiting for us in Chennai and they let us go. We had to have the microchip (airline required), all the vaccinations and a USDA certificate.

Germany Frankfurt to Chicago ORD flight time

I got to Frankfurt in 8 hours departing from O'Hare flying on United
The non-stop flight time from Chicago O'Hare airport (ORD) to Germany will depend on your choices of airlines and arriving airport in Germany. Non-stop flight duration will vary from 8h 10min to 9h 05min.The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. Also, if you are going to other cities in Germany, you'll have to add more time traveling.

LUFTHANSA AIRLINES A340-300 personal tv

Lufthansa A340-300 from Frankfurt to Chicago they have tv screens on the back of seats,According to Luthansa's website, their entire fleet of A330-300 and A340-600 are now fitted with in-seat screens. There is however no word that in-seat screens have been completely fitted on their A340-300 fleet.

I've flown with lufthansa as well as us airways a lot since i am from Germany and always go to the Frankfurt airport. Unfortunately i have to say that only one of the dozens of Lufthansa flights ive been on had the personal tv's.In first and business class, yes. In economy, no. There are several large TVs, but not individually in the back of the seats. you will not have a personal tv on the Airbus A340-300, but if you were on the Airbus A340-600, you would.Us airways has a tendency of around 20% of the time getting a personal tv. Nonetheless, i have found and concluded that even though perhaps with us airways u get the tvs, the lufthansa personel is 1000 times nice, the food is brilliant and you actually get real metal utensils. I also think that the ones with the tvs have them taken out (except for buissness class) because of rising fuel prices, and the tvs add a lot of extra weight which makes the airplane burn more fuel. Anyways i'm going to have to say that theres a 99% chance that you will not have the tvs, but really if you just bring something to read or entertain yourself you should be fine as well. P.S. the lufthansa seats are also A LOT more comfortable. Hope this helps and have a good flight

Car Seats Flying with baby Lufthansa airlines

I've also flown Lufthansa many times and only once did they take my car seat. It was FAA approved but the Flight Attendant said that it had to be IATA approved, which was annoying. I had the purser called over. He had to take it and I was miffed as I had paid for a seat for my under 2 daughter specifically to use it.
have to admit that was the only time this happened. Usually, Lufthansa was cool about using U.S. car seats onboard and other passengers have reported likewise when I was flying for a living myself (I was a Flight Attendant at Frankfurt). I never discussed it. I simply strapped my car seat in and used it.

What I suggest you do it pull out your owner's manual and see if it says anything about having universal approval. I know it exisits but I can't find the link right now. The FAA sent it to me awhile back.

Contact the seat manufacter and ask them to send you documentation that your seat is universally approved for airline use. Car seat companies are good about doing this. Radian told me my seat is, although it is not sold in Europe (only in America).

On Lufthansa long haul flight there are special baby beds available. Please beware that there is only a limited number of seats with baby beds available When booking your flight please inform our staff or the travel agent that you will be travelling with a baby Before takeoff and landing, give your child its dummy or its bottle to drink. That will help him or her to better balance the change in air pressure Lufthansa carries baby food on all its flights. But you shouldn't forget your baby's bottle and its favourite food! Water for the bottle is available on board. Our flight attendants will also warm the baby's bottle, and glasses, too. Just ask one of them - they’ll be glad to help you! There are changing tables in the washrooms on board

can Lufthansa recharge laptop in international flight

Lufthansa have power outlets only in Business and First class.

Try asking the flight attendants if you can plug your laptop into the outlet for an unoccupied seat in BC or first class so it can charge during the flight. Lufthansa tends to be "by the book" so you may be told no..

A 20-hour trip will have one or more stops or/and plane changes. You should be able to find an electrical outlet in between flights.

Do look into upgrading, at least for part of your trip. Having a ticket in BC or FC for any part of your trip should give you the opportunity to recharge your laptop in-flight. It should also give you the other BC/FC perks, like lounge access. Lounges always have electrical outlets you can use to recharge.

Lufthansa's frequent flier program only allows you to purchase 12000 miles per year, which is only enough to upgrade from EC to BC on short flights. However, United's program lets you purchase up to 50000 miles, which would be enough to upgrade (1-way) just about anywhere Lufthansa could fly you. Do the research before you buy the miles to make sure your ticket is upgradable AND there are vacant seats in BC. Lufthansa and United are partners and you can use United FF miles on Lufthansa.

The only other suggestion I can make is to take an extra battery or two if you really need to work that much while in-flight.

best credit card that accrues frequent flyer miles

Just remember that most credit cards that accrue frequent flier miles have an annual fee. Therefore you have to question whether or not it is worth having a credit card that you have to pay between $50-$75 a year to keep. Capital One offers a credit card which allows you to accumulate miles and there are no black-out dates. However you have to read to see if there is a limit on the number of miles you can earn per year. Also with so many people accruing frequent flier miles on non-flying related charges, it is harder to actually be able to cash in your miles for a free ticket.
Also, look for a card that has no annual fee. If you have to pay $50 to earn the miles, that offsets some of the value of the miles.

As a side note - I travel a lot for business, and in general I have found that hotel point CCs offer better value per dollar charged and generally are easier to redeem. For example, I use the Hilton HHonors card. I get 2 points for every dollar charged to the card, so for $20,000 I end up with 40,000 points, or enough for about $400 in free room nights that I have never had a problem using.
By comparison, USAir's card would earn me 20,000 miles for those purchases, which is not even enough for a round trip ticket on their cheapest option (and good luck finding a mileage saver seat anywhere popular). You would need to spend $50,000 on the card to get a round trip ticket inside the us, average value around $400 (plus you pay a fee to redeem miles at most airlines now)
My suggestion is to find a card that you can earn points or receive cash back. I have a Visa credit card (Freedom card) from Chase where you can earn 3 points for every dollar on the top 3 categories you spend on such as groceries and gas. Once you accumulate 5,000 points, you can cash that in for $50. There is no annual fee associated with this. Also if you apply right now, Chase will give you 5,000 points after your first purchase. Therefore you will get $50 after making 1 purchase.

And in terms of true value, cashback cards can be the best deal, IF you can find one without an annual fee.

Lufthansa Miles & More vs Eurobonus (SAS)

they are pretty similar, both have pluses and minuses. I noticed that Lufthansa is a bit more expensive, and miles expire sooner (3 years vs Scandinavian Airlines's 4 years . But they also have more promotions and partners among retailers
Choosing a Frequent Flyer programme is like choosing a shampoo... which one does what, when , what's it like, etc etc
Well, I`m not a frequent flyer but Lufthansa was my choice. I know they are a pretty big airline, I mean they have a lot of destinations so more choices for me flying business or pleasure. The quality is what you get for your money.
Forget Scandinavian Airlines and their Eurobonus programme. Take Miles and More and try to fly no codeshare flights (so you should fly on LH metal and not SAS metal which can reduce your mileage earnings) then a roundtrip gives you at least 3000miles in W (via FRA, MUC), together with some promotions you will get a free flight (FLy smart award) after maybe 3 roundtrips =15000miles. There are not any different zones of Europe and the onboard product in cheap economy is way better than SAS.(everything for free)

Lufthansa vs KLM airline comfort

Lufthansa does have TV's in each seat and have many movies and TV shows available. There is also a channel that shows you exactly where you are in the world. They are now introducing latest front seat IFE's with touchscreen on majority of international routes.Frankfurt was very confusing the first time I went through, . The second time it was okay. It is a very big airport, but is overall a good airport. In Lufthansa's lounge, they have complimentary newspapers from all over the world.
Also, if you are a student, Lufthansa has a great student discount. I have seen tickets for $300 cheaper than the regular price just for being a full time college student. I highly recommend them.
Lufthansa is better than KLM on most flights, depending on the aircraft. Most KLM long hauls aircraft dont have Personal TV on the seats, but many of Lufthansa's long haul aircraft do (like on their A330 and A340).
Ive flown KLM before on Boeing 747. The seats were fine. Foods were great! The best is the flight attendant. They are very friendly!! They communicate with me in my native language, and it was very funny so we laughed ;)
are you have a frequent flier account with a particular airline? Lufthansa is part of the Star Alliance. If you have a British Midlands or United Airlines frequent flier account, I would choose Lufthansa. You can go to their websites to find a list of all member airlines.

lufthansa vs British Airways cabin service

Lufthansa tend to treat passengers in economy just the same as what they would do in First and Business class, and their food is much better.LH has a non stop Miami - Frankfurt, and also Miami - Dusseldorf - so depending on where your going or if your making a connection - you have options.
Lufthansa is a european carrier so its much different from the US carriers in terms of service. And the food is really good!I would usually base my decision on the connecting flight to either LHR or MUN I would say, go with whoever is cheapest overall.

Been with BA twice; 1st time on a long haul flight was good had a really nice plane and trip from Madrid - England.
2nd Time not good! England- New York on a double decker plane it was dirty and the entertainment has broken for the majority of the flight. The staff where nice though which is always good and the food was nice.

I would probably choose Lufthansa because I have a frequent flier account with United Airlines . If I fly with Lufthansa, I can earn United Airlines miles . If I had an American Airlines frequent flier account, I would choose British Airways.

lufthansa airlines Additional items allowed in the cabin

In addition to your hand baggage and technical appliances you may take the following items into the cabin:
A handbag, wrist bag or small bag (or small laptop bag) and their content A coat, shawl or blanket A small camera or a pair of binoculars An appropriate amount of reading material for the journey A infant carrier and baby food for the flight Crutches or other orthopedic aids you are depending on

lufthansa Size and weight of carry-on baggage

In First and Business Class you may take two pieces of hand baggage on board (except for flights departing the UK). Please stow one of the pieces under the seat in front of you. Economy Class passengers are only permitted one piece of hand baggage. Please check for country-specific differences.

Each piece of hand baggage may not be larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm and may not weigh more than 8 kg. An exception are foldable garment bags. They count as hand baggage up to a size of 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

Pieces of baggage exceeding these limits have to be checked in. As the stowage space in the cabin is limited we will transport them in the cargo hold. This is in the interests of your own and other passengers' safety and comfort.

lufthansa regulations for hand luggage

Only limited amounts of liquids may be taken on board flights that depart from EU countries and on connecting flights from Europe. This includes all German domestic flights. Please note that more and more countries are following these regulations for hand baggage.
Liquid and gel-based products such as healthcare products and cosmetics may be carried in hand luggage as long as they comply with the following regulations:
Containers with liquids and similar products may contain up to 100 millilitres (the printed maximum quantity applies) All containers must be carried in a transparent resealable plastic bag (e.g. a so-called "zip-lock") with a maximum capacity of one litre One bag per person The bag must be presented separately at the security check Medication and special foodstuffs (e.g. baby food) which are needed during a flight may be transported outside the plastic zip-lock bag.

Articles and plastic bags that do not comply with the regulations may not be taken on board. Similar regulations apply in an increasing number of countries worldwide, such as the USA, Japan and Korea.
Duty-free articles purchased at airports inside the EU or on flights on planes registered in the EU, e.g. on Lufthansa flights, may be carried on board in a sealed bag as long as they are accompanied by a receipt bearing the date of the flight (this does not apply to flights to the USA or to code-share flights). These items must be sealed by the duty-free sales staff. Additional special regulations apply to USA and UK flights. For example, liquids still may not be taken on board as hand luggage on any flights departing from or flying via the United Kingdom. Special regulations apply to liquid Duty Free items in hand luggage taken on board direct and connecting flights to the USA. Please ask about these at the local sales outlet.

Similar regulations apply in an increasing number of countries worldwide, such as the USA, Japan and Korea.

You are therefore advised to check the website of the relevant departure airport before your flight to find out which regulations apply.

Specific regulations may also apply to carrying liquid or gel Duty Free items in hand baggage, depending on your destination. Please enquire about these at the local point of sale.

Lufthansa exerts no influence on these legal stipulations and asks passengers to bear them in mind already when preparing for a trip and to reduce hand luggage to the bare minimum.

You are therefore advised to check the website of the relevant departure airport before your flight to find out which regulations apply.

lufthansa Free baggage allowance for children

Children aged two years and over are entitled to the same free baggage allowance as adults, if they have paid at least 50% of the adult fare. Infants aged under two years have a free allowance of one bag plus a fully collapsible pushchair; under the 'Weight Concept' one bag with a maximum weight of 10 kg and under the 'Piece Concept' one bag with maximum weight of 23 kg. A seat must be booked for any child who will turn two years old during the journey. Please note that the date of the return flight is the determining factor for the age limit.

lufthansa Free baggage allowance on international routes

On all flight routes (international and within Germany) not shown in the following list, your free baggage allowance is determined according to the so-called 'Weight Concept'. With this concept it is the total weight of your baggage that matters, rather than the number of bags.

The Free allowances are:
First Class: 40 kg (88lb) - plus 1 ski bag and plus 1 golf bag
on flights operated by Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines
Business Class: 30 kg (66lb) - plus 1 ski bag on flights operated by Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines
Economy Class: 20 kg (44lb) - plus 1 ski bag on flights operated by Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines
